Gallery owner and curator Amanda Fernandez-Leon may be young, but the 24-year-old tastemaker already has an eye for art.

The young blonde has been a resident of up-and-coming Wynwood art district since opening her Calix Gustav Gallery last year. She now boasts a steady following of art connoisseurs, with her new "Sticky and Sweet" exhibition among the most popular during the neighborhood's monthly art walks.

“Wynwood is crazy!" she said. "It’s the art district. It's up and coming, and right now its just the place to be."

After living in several cities throughout the world, the entrepreneur settled in Miami following the completion of her masters’ degree at Florida International University. One reason for putting down roots in the Magic City, she said, is her stomach.

“I love Miami, honestly, because of the food,” she said, laughing. “I can have any food from any country at anytime -- where else is like that?”

She also professed her admiration for the crowd in her neighborhood.

“Art walks have 80-year-old art collectors mingling with twentysomething hipsters” she said, “It’s so great to see how they interact with each other.”

She added, “You only get that in Miami -- its never stuffy -- you never feel intimidated.”
