Chop Shop in Deerfield Beach Busted

Man in custody after cops find vehicles, car parts in warehouse

One man is behind bars and six stolen vehicles were recovered after a Deerfield Beach chop shop was busted, authorities said Thursday.

Delano Carlos Henry, 24, was taken into custody Wednesday after at least six stolen vehicles and several cars parts were found in bays at the warehouse at 116 Southeast 3rd Street, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.

Henry was charged with three counts of grand theft auto, owning and operating a chop shop and violating probation.

"At this point we have six stolen vehicles inside these bays, all of them are Japanese vehicles, we have Nissans, Acuras, there's also Mitsubishi," BSO spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion said. "We also have a lot of car parts so additional charges are probably pending."

Concepcion said deputies were investigating a tip about a stolen vehicle which led them to the warehouse.

When deputies spotted Henry driving in the area and when they pulled him over, the car came back stolen Concepcion said.

An investigation revealed he was renting multiple bays at the warehouse and had previously been charged with grand theft and operating chop shop, Concepcion said.

Henry was being held without bond Thursday and it was unknown whether he has an attorney.
