Man Injured in Miramar Hit and Run

Man walking down street with brother hit by car, driver flees scene

Miramar Police are looking for a driver who struck a man as he was walking down the street with his brother and fled the scene early Wednesday.

The incident happened around 6 a.m. in the 7600 block of Venetian Street, Miramar Police spokeswoman Tania Rues said.

Rues said the woman, who was driving a light colored Chrysler 300, struck the man, 34-year-old Andre Coombes, and initially stopped her car. She asked "what did I hit?" and saw the victim on the ground being held by his brother and fled the scene, Rues said.

Coombes was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital with a head injury and was in serious condition, Rues said. His brother wasn't injured.

Neighbors said the brothers lived just a couple houses down from where they were hit.

"It's sad, it's so sad," said neighbor Kessa George.

Rues described the driver as a light-skinned black female with an accent. She said the car may have front end damage.
