South Florida Woman Finds Kidney Donor Through Craigslist Ad

A South Florida woman found a donor using the online community site

A South Florida woman, who found a kidney through an ad she placed on Craigslist, was recovering from a kidney transplant on Wednesday.

Seline Hodge, 28 posted a request on Craigslist.org in July in hopes of finding a kidney donor, WPTV reported.

"That's when I turned to Craigslist, because I didn't know where else to turn to," Hodge told WPTV.

She received responses from more than 800 strangers from around the world. But the donor Stephanie Grant, 23, lives only few miles away from her.

"It just amazes me that somebody would actually lay down their life for a complete stranger," said Gina Evans, Hodge's mother.

But before the surgery actually took place, the women had to pass a series of medical and psychosocial tests.

The women had their surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital, and so far they are recovering without any complications while continuing to be monitored by the staff.

"I prayed that God guide the surgeon's hand in the right direction," said Evans.
