Looking to Start Your Career? These 3 Florida Cities Ranked Among the Best Places in US for Graduates, Professionals

While some might think New York City or Washington D.C. are the ideal places for postgraduates to launch their careers, a recent report from Wallethub suggests otherwise

Whether you recently graduated from college or are a young professional or entrepreneur, deciding where to kickstart your career could be top of mind.

While some might think New York City or Washington D.C. are the ideal places for postgraduates to launch their careers, a recent report from Wallethub suggests otherwise.

The report, titled 2023's best and worst places to start a career, broke down key components across 182 U.S. cities to better help new graduates make their choice and three Florida cities ranked among the top 10 of the best cities to kickstart your career.

The cities were ranked based on the weighted averages across 26 key metrics, including availability of entry-level jobs, monthly average starting salary, unemployment rate, median annual income, housing affordability and family-friendliness.

WalletHub Analyst Jill Gonzalez told CNBC that when choosing where to move to start a new career, substantial availability of entry-level jobs is a major green flag.

"Other important things to look for when deciding to relocate include income potential, retirement and benefits packages and even entrepreneur friendliness," Gonzalez said. "As far as red flags go, you should look at the quality of life. A high cost of living, long commutes or the lack of housing affordability are all things you want to avoid when you're just starting your career," Gonzalez continues.
