1 Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on Palmetto Expressway in Miami-Dade

One person was killed in a wrong-way crash that snarled traffic on the Palmetto Expressway early Monday in Miami-Dade.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 5 a.m. Monday on Palmetto Expressway/State Road 826 northbound just south of Coral Way.

FHP confirms that it was a wrong-way wreck, but have yet to release any further information.

State Road 826 northbound was closed between Miller Drive and Coral Way, as was the Don Shula Expressway/State Road 874 at State Road 826, while officials investigated the crash.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area and take the Turnpike, 72nd or 87th as alternates.

The identity of the victim was not immediately known.
