2 Cars Collide into Turnpike Wall in Fiery Crash: MDFR

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials are investigating what caused two cars to collide into the containment wall of the Florida Turnpike and burst into flames Tuesday morning.

The crash happened around 1:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes just north of Eureka Drive. The driver of a Hummer and the driver of a black sedan slammed into the containment wall and burst into flames.

MDFR and several other units responded to the scene and saw both vehicles engulfed in flames.

Both passengers in the Hummer were able to escape the truck and were not injured. The driver of the sedan also got out but suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital.

Their condition is not immediately known.

The cause of the accident is not clear and remains under investigation.
