3 Men Shot at Tampa Nightclub: Police

Three men were shot on the dance floor at a Tampa nightclub early Monday morning, police say.

According to a report from NBC affiliate WFLA, the men were at Club Viva in Tampa when an argument ensued on the dance floor just after 2 a.m. Tampa Police, who happened to be in the area, heard gunshots ring out from inside the club. They entered, and found three male victims on the dance floor area of the club, all suffering from gunshot wounds.

The men told police they believed they were hit by stray gunfire and that they were not the intended targets of the shooting.

It's estimated that 500 people were inside the club at the time of the shooting, but police say so far, no witnesses have come forward.

The victims were all taken to the hospital and are listed in stable condition.

Tampa Police tell WFLA that that the club has both armed and unarmed security at the club and that they perform pat downs on people before entering the club. Police are investigating why and how weapons made their way inside the club despite security measures.

Club Viva could not be immediately reached by WFLA for comment.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.
