Brevard Deputy Fatally Shot Identified

Barbara Pill had been with the sheriff's office for 15 years

Authorities identified the Brevard County deputy who was fatally shot in the face on Tuesday by a suspect.

Barbara Pill, 53, was shot while investigating a call about property theft at an Econolodge, according to WESH.

Brandon Lee Bradley, 22, is accused of shooting her. Authorities say he and his passenger Andrea Kurtchener, have criminal histories.

Pill and Bradley were talking when Bradley shot her several times in the face, authorities said. He then fled with the passenger in a white SUV.  Authorities chased them and eventually the vehicle crashed into a ditch.

Both were in custody, but authorities were trying to figure out what to charge them with.

Pill had been with the sheriff's office for 15 years and was a new grandmother.
