Burglar Goes On Shopping Spree With Stolen Credit Cards: Officials

A suspect stole credit cards from a visiting family and then went on a shopping spree, officials said

Authorities are searching for a burglar who stole from an out-of-town family and then went on a shopping spree with the stolen credit cards.

Surveillance video released by the Broward Sheriff’s Office shows how the suspect charged $5,000 worth of items from various stores in the course of eight hours, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies said the family was visiting from Germany and staying at the Paradise by the Sea motel on Ocean Drive in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea. The family who have two boys aged five and six told officials they don’t remember locking the door before going to bed. They said their belonging, including a laptop, cell phone, camera and wallet, were gone when they woke up the next morning.

From 3:30 a.m. to 11:40 a.m. on May 25, the suspect purchases items at Walmart, Home Depot, Publix, 7-Eleven, Pep Boys and Walgreens, officials said.
