Car Crashes Into Pembroke Pines Home

A car smashed into the front of a Pembroke Pines home Thursday afternoon, landing in the living room, police say.

Nobody was home when the car, a dark-colored Toyota Camry, barreled through the front of the home on the 8500 block of Johnson Street, police say. The driver crashed through the concrete barrier lining the porch, knocked down a wall before finally coming to a stop in the living room.

One of the people living at the home, Ana Maria Hernandez, returned home while police were on the scene. She said the car ended up just inches away from her bedroom.

“That looks horrible, you know. You come home and, damn!” Hernandez said.

Police haven’t said why the driver left the driver and haven’t released his identity. Hernandez said police told her the driver “was in the hospital and he was like drinking.”

The owner of the home didn’t want to go on camera. Loved ones said she, Hernandez, and the other person living at the home were grateful no one was at home at the time of the accident.
