Colombian Actors Wanted in Home Burglary: Sunny Isles Beach Police

A pair of actors from Colombia are being sought in a home burglary in Sunny Isles Beach, police said Wednesday.

Sunny Isles Beach Police say they're looking for Farid Duque and Rafael Pedroza in the June 12 burglary of an apartment in the 19300 block of Collins Avenue.

The owner of the apartment found it had been ransacked and burglarized, with about $20,000 worth of items stolen, police said. When he reviewed surveillance footage, he recognized the suspects, who are his friends and actors in Colombia, police said.

"They don't have a place to stay, no food, money, nothing. And I gave them the chance to stay in my apartment and have everything they need to be a success," Alejandro Abello said.

Abello said he has been friends with Duque and Pedroza for 20 years so he let them stay in his condo for a couple of weeks. He said they're famous actors in Colombia who came to the states to live the American Dream.

"In Colombia they are famous. Some people think actors, they make a lot of money and that's not true," he said. "I feel bad. I feel bad for me, I feel bad for their families, their friends, it's not good. It's not good, especially them, they're celebrities. They have to show the people, they have to be an example."

Police said the suspects are still at large and may still be in South Florida. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 305-947-4440.
