Police are investigating after a man was fatally shot outside a Coral Springs home late Tuesday night.

Officers arrived at the home near Northwest 38th Street and 72nd Drive around 9 p.m. after receiving a 911 call about a man with a gunshot wound, Coral Springs Police officials said.

The man, later identified as 48-year-old Hicksbert Dwight Grant, was taken to Broward Health North where he was pronounced dead.

A car was towed from the home early Wednesday, but there were no visible signs of damage such as bullet holes.

Neighbors said they heard a couple gunshots just before officers and paramedics arrived.

"We just heard two big bangs and thought it was fireworks, and five minutes later we saw police lights," said one neighbor, who didn't want to be identified. "It's scary, I still don't know all the details, but it's not good."

Police haven't released any other details about the shooting or possible suspects.
