Eggelletion Gets 2 1/2 Years Behind Bars

Corrupt Broward pol also hit with $10,000 fine

You won't have Joe Eggeletion to kick around anymore, at least for a couple years.

The disgraced Broward County pol was sentenced to 2 1/2 years behind bars today after pleading guilty to money laundering conspiracy and tax charges.

The sentence was handed down in a federal court in West Palm Beach and includes a $10,000 fine.

Eggelletion, 60, was suspended from his county commissioner post in October after he was charged with conspiring to help launder more than $900,000 through a Bahamas bank account from what undercover FBI agents told him was an investment fraud scheme.

The longtime politician was one of three nabbed in the FBI's September corruption sting. Former Miramar commissioner Fitzroy Salesman and suspended Broward school board member Beverly Gallagher are also facing corruption charges.
