Firefighters rescued several exotic pets from a house fire in Lauderdale Lakes Wednesday morning.
The fire was reported sometime before 9 a.m. at the home in the 3200 block of Northwest 39th Street, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue officials said.
When firefighters arrived they found flames and heavy smoke coming from the home, but the fire was quickly extinguished. The residents of the home were able to escape without injuries.
Firefighters were able to rescue a number of animals from the home, including a ball python, a blue-tongued skink, a bearded dragon, ferrets and a guinea pig, officials said.
The cause of the fire was unknown.
