Florida Presidential Primary to be Winner-Take-All

Either Sen. Marco Rubio or former Gov. Jeb Bush most likely will be the benefactor of the state Republican Party's decision to make the Florida primary a winner-take-all contest.

Party leaders voted Saturday to give all the state's delegates to whoever wins the March 15, 2016, primary. Rubio or Bush would be the favorite to carry their home state in the contest and not having to share delegates would give them an advantage in what's expected to be a crowded Republican field.

The Legislature helped set up the decision by moving the primary from March 1 to March 15, the first date that would allow the party to decide to make the election winner-take-all instead of proportional.
