Footage Shows Shop Owner Shoot Employee in Coral Square Mall

Video showing the moments the owner of a jewelry repair shop opened fire on an employee before turning the gun on himself inside the Coral Square Mall in Coral Springs was released Thursday.

The shooting happened Saturday at the Fast Fix jewelry shop inside the mall at 9469 West Atlantic Boulevard, Coral Springs police said.

The store's owner, 59-year-old Gus Kiriazis, shot 52-year-old Sabas Ferrer, then shot himself, police said. Kiriazis died at the scene, while Ferrer was transported to Broward Health North in stable condition.

The surveillance video shows the two men walk into the store. At one point, Kiriazis goes into a back room and emerges with a firearm and starts shooting at Ferrer, who runs away.

People working and shopping at the mall heard the gunshots and calls started pouring into 911.

"We don't know if we have an active shooter but we have shots fired in the mall, we have a subject down over by Fix It jewelers, he's bleeding profusely," one caller told an operator.

"There's a gentleman, I think the owner of a store, either he got shot or shot himself, it's called Fast Fix," another caller said. "He's inside his store, the guy is on his knees and bleeding but he's moving."

Police placed the mall on lockdown after the shooting. Officials haven't released a possible motive for the shooting.
