‘I Didn't See it Coming': Victim of Wynwood Armed Robbery

Wynwood has recently been bogged down by some conniving criminals. First, an attempted purse snatching and now an armed robbery.

The latest robbery involved a large group of men in hoodies and masks.

The group of men came out of nowhere. Five guys in ski masks followed the victim, held him at gunpoint and then wiped him clean of all his possessions.

The gang of thieves preyed on the victim, Eduardo Tamayo, getting away with his wallet, his phone, his keys and even his car.

"They took everything in broad daylight. The street was filled with a lot of cars and people," Tamayo said. "I didn't see it coming."

The frightening armed robbery happened in the middle of the day, around 1 p.m. this past Sunday. Tamayo said he had just stopped to take out some cash at a nearby ATM when the bandits struck, pulling up beside him as he was entering his car.

"When they opened the door, they put a gun to my head. They started all yelling, asking for the cash. The cash, the cash, give me the cash," Tamayo said.

Police arrived just seconds after one of the men got away in his car but they haven't been able to the find the criminals who did this. So far, surveillance cameras in the area have not captured what these guys look like, but the victim tried to give a description.

"Tall and thin, they had like a jacket with a hood and they had ski masks, so I couldn't see anything like their face," Tamayo explained.

A violent attempted purse snatcher was also recently caught in the same area of Wynwood. It happened on the same street, NW 26th Street on Aug. 19.

With both of these incidents, this victim said he is watching his back. He wants these robbers caught and off the streets before they strike again.

"Be aware because I never thought that this would happen here," Tamayo said.
