Hot Off the Press: Lil Wayne Sentencing Postponed – Again

Weezy is ready to spend a year behind bars

Lil Wayne's sentencing on gun charges in a New York courtroom got heated quite literally on Tuesday.

Miami's favorite rapper had his sentencing delayed for the second time after a courthouse fire forced officials to evacuate the Lower Manhattan courthouse.

We're not sure if this is a good sign or bad one for Lil Weezy Baby, who was originally scheduled to go behind bars last month, but a judge granted a delay so he could have some dental surgery.

Wayne, 27, didn't sound too pleased about breathing free air for a few more days, according to his attorney.

"Once you make up your mind to do something, you want to do it," Stacey Richman said.

At this point, they might as well give Wayne credit for time served and let him go free. We fully expect locusts to swarm New York the next time he is due in court.

The Grammy Award-winning rapper had been expected to get a yearlong jail term after pleading guilty in October to attempted criminal possession of a weapon. He admitted having a loaded gun on his tour bus when it was stopped in Manhattan in July 2007.

Wayne was on his way to the courthouse when he was told about the fire. No make up date has been scheduled for sentencing so Weezy might get to throw one more "Going Away" party on South Beach. Stay tuned.
