“Exploding Bag” Passenger Gets Bond and Drops Marital Bombshell

Judge orders $200,000 bond for Orville Braham.

Orville Braham has a tough decision to make.

He could either stay in jail to face federal charges for having bullet primers in his luggage or get out of jail and face the wrath of his wife.

Braham, 37, is the American Airlines passenger whose bag exploded as it was being loaded onto a plane at Miami International Airport last week. Prosecutors said the Boston resident was on his way to visit his mistress, who lives in Jamaica.

Things were going smoothly until something created a spark that ignited the 700 bullet primers in Braham's luggage. That caused a bomb scare and ultimately led to his arrest. Braham had another 1,000 of the tiny volatile bullet pieces in another bag.

Now the explosive situation might be at home.

A federal judge granted Braham a $200,000 bond Tuesday, but with certain conditions. He had to have his wife co-sign the bond and put up $20,000.

Orville is charged with transporting hazardous materials and could spend a year in prison if convicted.

Let's hope he doesn't have any bullet primers, bullets, or guns at home.
