A man was killed in a police-involved shooting following a SWAT standoff at a home in Davie Friday morning.
Davie Police Chief Dale Engle said the incident began around 2:30 a.m. when police received a call of a disturbance at a mobile home community along Griffin Road and Southwest 73rd Avenue.
When officers arrived the man refused to come out, so a SWAT team and negotiators responded.
At one point, the man was shot and killed by an officer. He was later identified as 39-year-old Luis Lomonte. He was armed with a knife, police said, and an officer was forced to fire.
Engle said a woman was heard yelling inside the home and it's believed she was being held against her will. The woman was not injured.
"Anytime that someone is being held against their will and there's some imminent threat of danger to that person, we're gonna respond in force to ensure the safety of not only our officers and the people inside that residence but also to the surrounding neighbors and residents that live here," Engle said.
During the standoff, the man posted a video on YouTube that showed him sitting in front of a screen with multiple surveillance cameras, saying they showed officers outside his home.
"I'm not gonna open the door for any reason," the shirtless Lomonte says in the video.

The woman who was in the home also posted a video on Facebook, saying she and her boyfriend had been bothered by neighbors before police arrived. The woman claimed police were trying to shoot them and said they put aluminum foil over the windows.
"Davie Police, they're trying to shoot us, we had to be barricaded with all this aluminum foil here," the woman says.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will investigate the officer-involved shooting.
