Miami Man Accused of Shooting Pregnant Girlfriend Arrested

A man accused of shooting his pregnant girlfriend at their Miami home has been arrested, authorities said Tuesday.

Raymond Xavier Deltoro, 29, is facing attempted murder and aggravated battery of a pregnant victim charges in the Saturday shooting at a home in the 4300 block of Northwest 11th Place, an arrest report said.

The report said Deltoro and the victim have been in a relationship for five years and she was 38 weeks pregnant with his child when the couple got into an argument and Deltoro punched her in the face.

She demanded Deltoro leave then closed the door behind him but when she opened the door after she thought he left, she found him standing outside pointing a gun at her, the report said.

"I'm going to shoot, you're going to see I'm going to shoot," she said he told her, according to the report.

Deltoro then opened fire through the glass front door, shooting her twice in the chest above her heart, the report said.

Deltoro fled the scene but surrendered to police with his attorney, and was booked into jail on Tuesday, the report said. The attorney's information wasn't available.

The mother survived and gave birth to the child.
