Gang Members Receive Get Out of Jail Free Pass

Three prisoners walk in West Palm after paperwork snafu

Palm Beach County sheriff's deputies have found one of the three alleged gang members who were mistakenly released from jail over a paperwork mix up.

Jail records show 21-year-old James Roundtree, 18-year-old Marquis Roundtree and 17-year-old Tavaris Herndon were charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, racketeering and other offenses.

The mistake happened during a hearing last week when new paperwork was filed to reword the racketeering charges. Somehow the bond section was left blank.

The Clerk of Court notified jailers the charges had been dropped and the men were released Tuesday.

Herndon was captured Friday afternoon, the Palm Beach Post reported. The other two men are still at large.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Teri Barbera said the jail was just following procedures when it turned the criminals loose. The men are allegedly members of the Buck Wild gang, which has caused many headaches for police in Palm Beach.

"These subjects should be considered armed and dangerous," a bulletin to area law enforcement agencies read, "and extreme caution should be used when approaching any of these individuals."

The State Attorney's Office is set to discuss the case after a hearing Friday afternoon.
