Mom Busted After Young Kids Test Positive for Cocaine

Palm Beach County children found living in deplorable conditions

A Palm Beach County mom faces child neglect charges after her two young children tested positive for cocaine.

Lori Eve Barfield, 34, was arrested Sunday after her children were found to be living in deplorable conditions, according to the Palm Beach Post.

The two children, whose ages are unknown, were found wearing soiled diapers and underwear amid broken glass and bottles of alcohol and bug spray within their reach in Barfield's townhouse in Palm Beach Gardens.

When the children were taken to a nearby hospital, a toxicology test showed both had cocaine in their system.

Both kids were removed from Barfield and placed in protective custody. Barfield was released Monday after her arrest.

It wasn't the first time Barfield's children and drugs had come to the attention of the police. Just this past June, Barfield had taken her kids to the hospital after she became worried they'd accidentally swallowed Oxycodone pills.
