Police are investigating after a house was shot up in northwest Miami-Dade early Monday.

The shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. at the house near 81st Street and Northwest 17th Avenue. Police said eight people were inside but no one was hit.

Several neighbors said they heard the gunfire.

"After it's been a couple of minutes or a little while people start poking their head out, 'did you hear the shots, yeah, yeah,' nobody wants to say anything, nobody wants to have retaliation, you know, that's a sad thing," neighbor Michael Westlund said. "I only walk during the day Cause you can't walk at night, you know, you don't know what's going to happen. Who has a beef....you're gonna get caught in the crossfire."

Police believe somebody drove up to the house, opened fire then sped off. Neighbors feel young men are behind the shooting but they said adults bear responsibility too.

"The adults carry the guns, the children carry carry the guns, the children mimic what parents do or what the society does or what the society dictates. And it's just some terrible times," Rochelle Johnson said.

"It makes me nervous for my two kids, you know, I just hope things can get better, can't we all just get along," Westlund said.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
