Vigil Held for Man Shot And Killed at South Miami Market

A vigil was held Saturday afternoon for a 22-year-old man who was gunned down inside the South Miami Market.

Markeith Nickles was fatally shot at South Miami Market off Southwest 70th Street and 59th Avenue around 11:30 a.m.

The man hunt is on for the person who shot and killed Nickles while he was shopping inside a convenience store in South Miami.

"If you know anything call Crime Stoppers," said Shakeshia Nickles, mother.

Police said the Nickles was involved in a dispute inside the store when he was shot.

"Who killed my son inside this store?! We need to find out who killed my son inside this store,"  Shakeshia Nickles said.

Nickles' family says he was a father to a 2-year-old girl.

"His little girl will grow up without a father," said Nickels' grandmother.

His family says they believe a black male is behind the crime and ask that he turn himself in.

"They have your picture and they know who you are so you might as well turn yourself in," Shakeshia Nickles said.

The owners of the store say that they have given all their surveillance video to police.

Detectives continue asking for any witnesses or tipsters to call Crime Stoppers (305) 471-TIPS. There is a $3,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
