Former President Bill Clinton is bringing together leaders from across the hemisphere for a discussion on the future of the Americas.
Thursday's event includes business leaders like Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim, The Nature Conservancy CEO Mark Tercek and Alfonso Quinonez, of the Organization of American States. The meeting at the University of Miami includes public panels with Clinton, Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos and University President Donna Shalala.
Meanwhile, the nonprofit group Two Countries, One Voice is taking out ads in Miami hoping to convince Slim to join fellow billionaires in signing the Giving Pledge. Bill Gates, Warren Buffett and Mark Zuckerberg are among those who signed the pledge, agreeing to give the majority of their wealth to philanthropic causes during their lifetime or in their will.
