Robbers Shoot Miami Clerk, Pistol-Whip Miramar Employee

The robberies happened early Saturday in Miramar and Miami.

A Miami store clerk was shot and a Miramar gas station employee was pistol-whipped during two robberies early Saturday that authorities suspect were carried out by the same assailants.

The clerk was shot at People’s Mini Mart and Restaurant in the 6300 block of Northwest Seventh Avenue in Miami, according to the store’s owner, Mohamed Shareif. The clerk is “a very good person” who only had worked there a few months, Shareif said.

The clerk was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital. His name and latest condition haven’t been released.

Farther north in Broward County, the same crooks were suspected of a robbery at a Mobil gas station about 2:30 a.m. Saturday, according to Miramar police.

The robbers, armed with a handgun and shotgun, arrived in a dark-colored Ford F-150 pickup and demanded money from two employees, police said.

One employee was pistol-whipped, but she was expected to be OK.  The robbers got away with money, cigarettes and the employees' wallets, police said.

Shareif said he wants the robbers caught.

“If anyone saw what happened come to the police, please," Shareif said. “You can't shoot someone just like that. You get the money and go.”
