3 Suspects Posed as Cops in Armed Home Invasion in Hallandale Beach

Police are searching for three suspects who posed as cops during an armed home invasion in Hallandale Beach Monday night.

The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. when the suspects, impersonating police, knocked on the front door of a home in the 400 block of Tamarind Drive saying they were there to conduct an investigation, police said.

The armed suspects entered the home where a woman, her husband and son lived.

The men allegedly kicked the son before tying him up in a chair along with his mother. After that, they took her husband – who owns several check cashing stores in the area – and led him around the house at gunpoint while collecting cash and jewelry.

He was later tied up as well before a security guard in the area came inside and untied the whole family.

One of the victims activated a feature on his cell phone that allowed police to find the location of his father’s phone, which was also taken in the robbery. That application allowed police to track the phone to the Pembroke Park and West Park area, where the search continues.

The family described the robbers as three black men who fled the scene in a vehicle they say looked like a police car.

Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
