A Davie man is charged with killing his 80-year-old mother after her body was found lying in a pool of blood in her kitchen, police said.
Richard Gregory Burns, 51, is charged with premeditated murder in the death of Patricia Burns, according to a Davie Police arrest affidavit released Wednesday.
Burns was being held without bond Wednesday. It was unknown if he has an attorney.
According to the affidavit, Burns' brother, William Burns, called police Tuesday to report his mother's death. He said Richard Burns had found the body on Monday but neither son called police, the affidavit said.
When officers arrived at the home, they found the woman's body lying on the kitchen floor covered in a blanket with a large blood stain around her head, the affidavit said.
She had trauma to her head, face and arms, had two black eyes, a round indentation on her left temple and a laceration above her left eye, the affidavit said.
Richard Burns was also at the home and had blood on his clothing and hands and feet, the affidavit said. Two garbage bags were also found in the home's attic with blood-stained clothing inside, the affidavit said.

William Burns, who lives in Hutchinson Island, told officers by phone that he had reported a domestic disturbance between his mother and brother on Sunday and that Richard Burns said he "wished that she was dead," the affidavit said.
William Burns called police for a welfare check on his mother on Monday after not hearing from her all day, but when officers responded, there was no response at the home.
He called Richard Burns who told him that their mother was dead and had been dead since Sunday night, the affidavit said.
When officers questioned Richard Burns, he said he had gone out Sunday night and when he returned, he saw his mother lying on the kitchen floor with blood on her face, the affidavit said.
He said he check for a pulse and covered the body with the table cloth and went to his bedroom to sleep, the affidavit said. He said he didn't call police because he wanted his brother to call them.
Richard Burns told officers he didn't know how the blood stains got on his clothes and said someone wore his clothes that were found in the garbage bags to frame him, the affidavit said.
"That is my story and I am sticking to it," Richard Burns told detectives, according to the affidavit. "What happened between me and my mom is between us and I am not changing my story."
