TD Bank Wants Rothstein Settlement Confidential

The judge didn't immediately rule on the issue

TD Bank wants confidentiality for a multimillion-dollar settlement with a group of investors victimized in imprisoned former South Florida lawyer Scott Rothstein's huge Ponzi scheme.

Attorneys for the Toronto-based bank objected Tuesday to release of details of its deal with 55 investors known as the Razorback Group. A judge in Broward County did not immediately rule but set a Friday hearing.

The investors claimed about $180 million in losses in Rothstein's $1.2 billion fraud. They also claimed TD Bank employees played a key role in the scam.

Last month a Miami jury decided that TD Bank owed $67 million to a separate group of Rothstein investors.

Rothstein is serving a 50-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to the scam. It involved investments in phony legal settlements.
