Woman Arrested for Illegal Buttocks Procedure at Hialeah Home

Ena Boulton, 60, was arrested Thursday on charges of unlicensed practice of a health care profession causing serious injury and practicing medicine without a license

More than a year after a Hialeah woman was left in a medically-induced coma following an illegal buttocks enhancement surgery in her home, authorities say they've arrested the woman responsible for performing the procedure.

Ena Boulton, 60, was arrested Thursday on charges of unlicensed practice of a health care profession causing serious injury and practicing medicine without a license, Miami-Dade jail records showed.

An arrest warrant was issued for Boulton after the 33-year-old victim was hospitalized in August 2018 for "serious complications stemming from a questionable medical procedure performed upon her," the warrant said.

According to the warrant, the victim said she paid $800 for the procedure that was performed in her Hialeah home by Boulton, who is not licensed to perform surgery in the State of Florida.

"The procedure was done in her bedroom as she lied face down in her bed, and she was orally given what was allegedly some type of medication prior to the procedure," the warrant said. "The woman [Boulton] administered two injections into her buttocks, one into each side of her glutes."

The victim said she suffered severe pain, but Boulton told her to just drink sugared water, the warrant said. When the victim started to vomit blood, Boulton "told her that she was okay," the warrant said.

The victim was admitted to Larkin Community Hospital in Hialeah where she was placed into a medically-induced coma. She didn't come out of the coma until November.

According to the warrant, the victim may have been injected with "Bio Alcamid," a cosmetic surgery synthetic filler used to "stimulate collagen growth, and/or to increase volume."

The victim suffered from speech impairment, gross and fine motor skills deficiency, and "contracture deformities to the extremities," the warrant said.

Boulton was booked into jail, where she remained held Friday on $12,500 bond, records showed. Boulton was released on bond late Friday night. Attorney information wasn't available.
