Woman Killed, Man Hurt in Drive-By Shooting in Pompano Beach

Family members identified the slain woman as 26-year-old Tyqueshia Reid

Authorities are investigating a drive-by shooting in Pompano Beach Tuesday night that left a woman dead and a man hospitalized.

The shooting happened around 11:15 p.m. in the 3000 block of Northwest 2nd Avenue, Broward Sheriff's Office officials said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene while the man was taken to Broward Health North with non-life threatening injuries, officials said.

Family members identified the slain woman as 26-year-old Tyqueshia Reid. The man was identified as 32-year-old Antonio Tubbs.

"I heard the boom boom boom. About 20 shots or more and I went running to the door and this car just sped off, you know, and then my nephew came running saying 'my sister got shot, my sister got shot.' And we ran over there and gave her CPR but she was dead," aunt Pat White said.

Family members said Reid, who has a young son, wasn't the intended target and was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

"I’m feeling upset right now. I can’t take it, like none of the family members can take it, she wasn’t meant to get killed," cousin Shanteria Barnes said. "They shot her for no reason."

Officials have few details on the suspect or suspects, only saying they are looking for a dark-colored vehicle involved in the incident.

"She was a loving and caring person. She just enjoyed life and she always was happy. She didn’t bother nobody," brother Tony Bluont said. "She doesn’t deserve this. Somebody knows something. Justice will be served because we are not going to give up."
