Woman Threatens To Kill Trooper During Traffic Stop: FHP

Jenifer Karina Rodriguez, 25, faces charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, fleeing and eluding, and making a threat against a public servant

A Sebastian woman was arrested after a Florida Highway Patrol trooper said she threatened to kill him and then sped off in her vehicle, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported.

Jenifer Karina Rodriguez, 25, faces charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, fleeing and eluding, and making a threat against a public servant, according to the newspaper. She was held on $5,500 bond at the Indian River County Jail.

Rodriguez was stopped by Cpl. Robert Ruiz for traveling 14 miles per hour above the posted speed limit, according to FHP.

When Ruiz told Rodriguez that he would save her money and document that she was only going nine miles per hour above the limit, Rodriguez became irate.

"You are an ugly person," Rodriguez was quoted as saying in the affidavit. "Why are you picking on me? What about all these other cars?"

After some verbal exchanges, Rodriquez threatened Ruiz, the newspaper reported.

"I am going to kill you," Rodriguez was quoted as saying in the affidavit. "You are dead."

Ruiz attempted to grab the woman’s keys from the ignition, but she sped off northbound on Interstate 95. She tried to hit Ruiz’s patrol car several times during the chase, the newspaper said.

Rodriguez eventually lost control of her car after she hit stop sticks set up by police officers.

Her car hit a tree, but she sustained only minor injuries.
