Man Identified After Being Found Murdered Outside Lighthouse Point Home

Authorities are investigating the death of a man whose body was found outside his Lighthouse Point home Friday morning.

Detectives responded to the scene at 2734 Northeast 27th Court, where they found the body, Broward Sheriff's Office officials said.

Police later identified the man as 54-year-old Karl Wolfer.

Neighbor Arty Fitzgerald said he heard two gunshots around 2:15 a.m. then saw his neighbor dead inside a white minivan.

"The gentleman in his car, shot, the window shattered," Fitzgerald said. "It wasn't pretty. Gruesome scene."

Footage showed officers at the scene investigating the white minivan, which was loaded onto a flatbed truck and taken away.

Fitzgerald said Wolfer owned the J&L Liquor store in Lauderdale Lakes and had moved into the condo in Lighthouse Point about a month ago.

"Nothing like this, ever, ever, ever," Fitzgerald said.

The shooting remains under investigation.
