Fourteen women in pink were anxiously anticipating an opportunity they have always wanted: to swim with dolphins. On Tuesday, the Miami Seaquarium made it a reality for the group of breast cancer survivors as it has done for many others for the past 10 years.
The South Florida attraction invited the women to celebrate life while swimming with three dolphins. The annual is a healing event for the women.
“I love swimming, so being in the water is very natural for me, and it's something that I've always wanted to do,” said breast cancer survivor Annie Brickel.
During the event, the group of women rode the dolphins and bonded with the animals.
Organizers say they use the event to also education women to get checked during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
