Woman Recovering as Search for Shooter in NW Miami-Dade Continues

A woman is recovering in the hospital a day after being struck in the arm by a stray bullet in northwest Miami-Dade as police continue to search for the shooter.

Police say 52-year-old Terry Fairell was an innocent bystander of a shooting on Wednesday afternoon near NW 52nd Street and 31st Avenue. Another man, identified as 36-year-old Aaron Swatts, was shot in the legs and may have been the intended target of the shooter.

Officials are now looking for a black Jeep Grand Cherokee in connection with the shooting. Further information was not available.

Both victims are recovering at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Fairell's son said his mother has to undergo a second surgery.

"All she told me was there was guys, she was riding and she didn't realize it, but she seen guys with big guns shooting," Gregory Anderson said.

The nearby Lorah Park Elementary School was briefly placed on lockdown at the time of the shooting.
