Authorities responded after a car crashed into a house in Pompano Beach Monday morning.

Chopper 6 was over the scene near 1751 Northwest 2nd Terrace, where the car could be seen crashed into the front of the house.

"He came straight down 17th Street at a high rate of speed and just smashed into the house, just totaling this house basically," Pompano Beach spokesperson Sandra King said. "Everything is in pieces.”

Neighbor Jonathan Dubreus said he heard a crash and saw a blue car inside the home.

"It sounded like a huge car accident," Dubreus said. “I heard and saw the mother screaming at the guy that got caught in the yard, letting him know that 'hey, my child was in there.'”

There were two women and a child in the house, but thankfully no one was injured.

King said neighbors told officials the driver ran from the scene.

"According to people here at the scene, they were holding down the driver so he couldn’t flee. But he was able to get up and run away," King said.

The incident remains under investigation.
