City of Miami Celebrates 121st Birthday on Friday

It’s a celebration on Friday as the city of Miami turns another year older.

Officials, including Mayor Tomas Regalado, will celebrate the 121st birthday of the ‘Magic City’ at an event honoring areas that were around even before the city was founded on July 28, 1896.

Regalado will be at Eaton Park in the Northeast part of the city to place historical markers commemorating the area known as Lemon City.

What is now modern day Miami was incorporated with just over 300 residents and now has an estimated population of just over 453,000 inside of the city limits and over 5.5 million in the metro area.
