Men Arrested for Trying to Vandalize Confederate Flag, Police

Police in north Florida have arrested two men on suspicion of trying to vandalize a Confederate flag on display at a government complex.

Ocala police say 26-year-old Theodore Miller and 39-year-old Nicholas Wilson were arrested Friday on misdemeanor criminal mischief charges.

Miller told the Ocala Star-Banner that the pair planned to lower the flag to half-staff and put a sticker featuring a symbol of the hacker group Anonymous underneath it.

According to the police report, an officer on patrol saw the flag had been lowered and noticed two men wearing gloves near the display at the McPherson Governmental Complex.

Police say Wilson also had pills without a prescription, and he is facing a felony possession charge, as well.

Miller denied being a member of Anonymous.
