Crews Battle Fire at High-Rise in Lauderhill

Crews responded to a fire at a high-rise apartment building in Lauderhill Tuesday morning that had some people trapped inside.

The fire broke out at the building at 4164 Inverrary Drive, Lauderhill Fire Department officials said.

Officials said people were trapped inside, but crews were able to put the fire out and no one inside was injured.

One firefighter suffered from heat exhaustion and may be hospitalized, officials said.

Officials said 12 units suffered extensive water and smoke damage. There were no sprinklers in the building, officials said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
