Destini Feagin, Former FIU Women's Basketball Captain, Arrested

A former Florida International University women's basketball team captain who accused her coach of sexual misconduct has been arrested on theft charges, authorities said Tuesday.

Destini Feagin, 22, was arrested Monday on charges of fraudulent use of a credit card and petit theft, according to a Miami-Dade Police arrest report.

Feagin, of Newark, New Jersey, was booked into Miami-Dade jail and later released. It's unknown if she's hired an attorney.

According to the arrest report, the victim reported the theft of her FIU/Wells Fargo debit card in February. Several fraudulent transactions totaling $347 were made at campus businesses between Feb. 2 and Feb. 10, the report said.

The transactions were captured on video surveillance, and the victim and two employees were able to identify Feagin, the report said.

Feagin had been suspended by FIU amid the theft investigation in February, just days before she accused head coach Marlin Chinn of pursuing a sexual relationship with her during the season.

Feagin reported him to FIU's athletics administration and filed an NCAA complaint. She also claimed Chinn had provided her with a $600 loan.

Chinn was initially suspended and later fired after he admitted to providing impermissible benefits to a student-athlete, violating NCAA bylaws, according to the University.
