Two swimmers snorkeling near Haulover Inlet were uninjured Friday when a strong tide sent them around the jetty and toward the inlet, officials said.
The pair was tired from battling a current that sent them in the direction of a bridge. Miami-Dade’s Ocean Rescue team swam into the current to reach the couple at 4:20 p.m.
The Ocean Rescue officials are using the incident to remind swimmers that even in calm and clear conditions, strong tidal currents are dangerous when swimming around a coastal inlet.
