A stray dog was euthanized after it was shot by a police officer who it attacked in Hialeah Thursday, officials said.
The shooting happened in the 300 block of East 16th Street, Hialeah Police officials confirmed.
Police said the officer was responding to calls about an aggressive dog in the neighborhood when the dog attacked him.
The officer shot the dog, which ran to a nearby front yard, officials said. The dog was put in the bed of a Hialeah police truck and taken to a local animal hospital.
The dog was later euthanized at the animal hospital, officials said. The officer wasn't injured.
