Fire Crews Cap Gas Leak in Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue crews were on the scene of a gas leak in Fort Lauderdale early Wednesday.

The Fort Lauderdale Fire Chief confirms that the gas leak has been capped.

Officials say construction crews at 417 Hendricks Isle in Fort Lauderdale cut a two-inch line. Haz Mat crews had difficulty capping the leak because the area was filled with water, hindering the process.

In all, officials say it took about 90 minutes to cap the leak.

Local evacuations were ordered for a time. Those orders have since been lifted.

Chopper 6 was over the scene where there was a very active scene with multiple crews and emergency vehicles responding.

No injuries haev been reported.
