Man Charged in Fatal February Stabbing of Homeless Man in Downtown Miami

Police arrested a man who they say confessed to the stabbing death of a homeless man and the stabbing of a woman outside of a Downtown Miami church.

Officers arrested 33-year-old Cato Delay on Monday and charged him with one count of second-degree murder and one count of attempted second-degree murder.

According to an arrest report, Delay allegedly stabbed the first victim on the night of February 22nd near South Miami Avenue and Southeast 1st Avenue. The victim was declared dead shortly after officers arrived at the scene.

Delay allegedly stabbed his second victim on May 20th while the victim was sleeping near Northwest 5th Avenue and 4th Street. That victim was rushed to the hospital, where she is expected to be okay. 

She was later able to identify Delay in a photo lineup after speaking with investigators, the report said.

Officers took Delay into custody on Monday and interviewed him, where they say he later confessed to the crimes. He is being held with no bond at this time. Attorney information wasn't available.
