Police in Pembroke Pines have arrested a 57-year-old man in connection with the killing of his 86-year-old mother, officials said.
Robert Ormiston faces a charge of premeditated murder and remains in jail without bond, online jail records show.
According to police, officers responded to a 911 call of an injured person just after 11 a.m. Wednesday at a home in the Pines Village community and found the elderly woman injured in a bedroom.
The woman was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital where she died Thursday morning, officials said. Her name hasn't been released.
Officials haven't said how the woman was killed, but said her death was being classified as a homicide.
The investigation is ongoing.
