Police say the fatal incident occurred in the 7800 block of NW 4th Avenue. The man, who was in his 30s, was transported to the Jackson Memorial Hospital Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition.
Officers said the man suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Witnesses heard gunshots in the area of 79th Street and 4th Avenue at around 3:30 a.m., police said.
Officials ask commuters in the area to seek an alternate route as roads are closed off from 77th to 79th Street.
