New University of Miami head football coach Manny Diaz stressed responsibility and passion at his introductory press conference Wednesday.
"Our responsibility is to play like the Miami Hurricanes," Diaz told reporters as he was officially introduced as the next Hurricanes coach.
Diaz, who was Miami's defensive coordinator for the last three seasons under Mark Richt, was hired Sunday night to fill the job his former boss vacated by unexpectedly retiring hours earlier.
The new Canes coach said he wants his team to play tough and fast.
"We're going to have fun, we're going to play with passion. This is a tough city, this is a passionate city, the fans of the Miami Hurricanes, they want to see their teams play with toughness and they want to see their teams play with passion," Diaz said.
