One Person Killed in Opa-Locka Explosion

One person was killed in an explosion after a chemical spill at an Opa-locka business, authorities said Thursday.

A large industrial storage tank exploded at 2410 NW 147th St. at about 1:30 p.m., killing one employee and injuring several others, Miami-Dade Police said.

The chemicals contaminated the site, injuring several other employees, according to police.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue treated the injured employees and secured the Hazmat scene.

Authorities continue to investigate.
